3D Printing

Scott Models offers a variety of printing and finishing services using SLA and FDM technology. Our experience finishing parts and using them in our own builds has led us to acquire machines that best serve the model making space. In many cases 3d printing is cheaper than CNC in the first step to making a model. We are available to supply parts with a basic sanded finish all the way to painted with graphics as desired. We also finish parts supplied by others.

Finishing options include natural state, sanding, bead blasted, polished, vapor smoothing, paint and graphics.

3D Systems SLA

Utilizes a buoyant printing environment and a class IV laser for curing resin resulting in minimal warping and support marks. Custom support generation in the software also allows us to optimize structural integrity and minimize clean up cost. At this time we use the Xtreme White 200 resin which is an ABS like resin that is durable and long lasting. This resin can be used to create snap fixtures and functional parts.

Stratasys FDM Printing

Cheaper than SLA, but can be more expensive to finish smooth. These parts are often used in automotive and aerospace industries as well as general prototyping. They are used for functional parts, fixtures, and prototypes. These parts have a higher heat deflection value than desktop PLA. The use of a purge tower, dissolvable supports, and well insulated chamber add to the ruggedness and consistency of parts produced.

Filaments include ASA general purpose, PC-ABS, ABS-ESD7, and ABS-CF10. Colors include black, white, and natural.

Desktop FDM and SLA

Often the cheapest way to create a form. Desktop printers can print in PLA or ABS. SLA printer can do clear parts and tinted parts.
